Pacers: February 9th
Pacers Can't Keep Up with Hawks
Team Looks to Bounce Back at Memphis Friday
Thursday February 9, 2012
The Atlanta Hawks blasted out of the gate Wednesday night and built up a 21 point lead in the first half that proved to be to much for the Pacers to overcome.
Behind 28 points from Josh Smith and 20 points from Joe Johnson, the Hawks were able to withstand the Pacers' charges to win 97-87.
Danny Granger led the Pacers with 21 points but only shot 5 of 17 for 29.4%. Pacers coach Frank Vogel had this to say:
"Give Atlanta a lot of credit. They came out, obviously having lost three in a row, with a tremendous edge and took the fight to us in the first half"
The Pacers' record now stands at 17-8, three and a half games behind Chicago for the Eastern Conference number one seed.
The Pacers head to Memphis to face the Grizzlies Friday (8 p.m., Fox Sports Indiana, WIBC 93 FM). The Grizzlies (13-13) snapped a three-game losing streak with an 85-80 victory over Memphis Wednesday night, and are 8-4 at home. The Pacers have dropped four in a row to the Grizzlies, the last three in Memphis.
